Tourism Montreal goes green

April 6, 2008 at 12:45 am (Uncategorized)

Like Toronto, Montreal has many tourism cluster members which are coming together to realize the on going importance going green and taking care of the environment. In an article published on Tourism Montreal, it discuss the recent urge that has lead to the need to go green and what will be done about it.

Here are some key notes:

Environmental management challenges are vital issues for all organizations in today’s world. The very nature of travel makes the tourism industry one of the sectors most closely touched by these problems.

In response to this major and unprecedented challenge, Tourisme Montréal together with the tourism industry very recently embarked on an impressive plan to go green. This comprehensive approach has two phases:

1) With the participation of our organization’s employees, the board of directors ratified the implementation of a Guide to the Green Office that will facilitate a change of habits and a commitment to embrace the change.

2) Aware of the need to deal with the considerable issues faced by the tourism industry, Tourisme Montréal will oversee the creation of a Montréal Tourism Industry Green Committee that will put in place an action plan to help reduce the impact on the environment despite the anticipated growth of the industry.

Copperfield at Sony Centre

March 29, 2008 at 9:49 am (Uncategorized)

There is no illusion here. David Copperfield will be performing for one last time in Toronto this year on March 30 at the Sony Centre for The Performing Arts.
Copperfield coming to Toronto can be seen as a boost to potential tourist trying to catch a show while in Toronto. David Copperfield has been hailed by audiences and critics alike as the greatest illusionist of our time. In addition to decades of network television events, worldwide tours, and “Dreams and Nightmares,” the critically acclaimed Broadway show that set box-office records, he has been featured on the covers of Forbes, Architectural Digest and Esquire and is the thirteenth highest paid entertainer in the world.
Copperfield has elevated the ancient art of magic to new heights and redefined it along the way. He has vanished the Statue of Liberty, walked through the Great Wall of China, flown through the air and made audience members disappear and reappear in places they would never expect. Witty, engaging and supremely entertaining, Copperfield’s approach to his venerable art has transformed the way the world looks at magic.
Now how can you miss something like that.
