Like Toronto, Montreal has many tourism cluster members which are coming together to realize the on going importance going green and taking care of the environment. In an article published on Tourism Montreal, it discuss the recent urge that has lead to the need to go green and what will be done about it.

Here are some key notes:

Environmental management challenges are vital issues for all organizations in today’s world. The very nature of travel makes the tourism industry one of the sectors most closely touched by these problems.

In response to this major and unprecedented challenge, Tourisme Montréal together with the tourism industry very recently embarked on an impressive plan to go green. This comprehensive approach has two phases:

1) With the participation of our organization’s employees, the board of directors ratified the implementation of a Guide to the Green Office that will facilitate a change of habits and a commitment to embrace the change.

2) Aware of the need to deal with the considerable issues faced by the tourism industry, Tourisme Montréal will oversee the creation of a Montréal Tourism Industry Green Committee that will put in place an action plan to help reduce the impact on the environment despite the anticipated growth of the industry.

Opportunity. There is so much opportunity for Toronto Tourism to capitalize on the world market.  The goal is to get Ontario and Toronto a bigger share of the $2 billion spent by tourists around the world everyday.

Toronto is the main gateway for visitors to the province, representing almost 50 per cent of the market, and there’s no shortage of what this city can do to improve. There is much talk about the Liberal government is wasting money on the wrong kind of advertising. The article then mentions that Toronto needs to be advertising in the States and Europe and all over the world. A solutions that is mentioned for our money to be better spent is get the money to flow on the waterfront, saying only a fraction of what was pledged by all three levels of government has been spent.

Toronto tourism key to go pro

For just over 20 years, the Toronto Grand Prix has been a staple event for racing fans to watch their favorite drivers attracting thousands of visitors from across the continent.. Not any more, Toronto’s hospitality industry will take a $50 million hit this summer with the cancellation of the Toronto Grand Prix.

There are many loses that can come from this, such as a huge blow to the city’s economy, and could even result in temporary job losses. In this article, it is mention by Duncan Ross, the city’s tourism director, that studies have shown the race has an annual impact of $50 million on the city’s economy, attracting tens of thousands of paying fans to nearby hotels, bars and malls.

“From a tourism perspective, one thing this event offers is an international and North American broadcast audience,” Ross said. “Any chance tourism marketers have for a live TV feed … is an incredibly positive opportunity. The dynamic images … have a way of making visitors want to come to the city.

Toronto, New York City has seen alot of tourism result due to the overwhelming popularity of their professional sports team, the New York Yankee. Thousands upon thousand flock to every year to have an opportunity to see one of the greatest sport franchises play the game they know best.

In a recent article  by Mike Fitzpatrick,  he goes on to talk about how New York begins its 84th and final season at Yankee Stadium by hosting Toronto on Monday, the beginning of a long kiss goodbye to one of the most famous venues in sports.

In preperation for this season comes the realization of next season where in 2009, the Bronx Bombers will move into a $1.3 billion new Yankee Stadium, located just across 161st Street. This year, a digital display in center field will count down the number of regular-season home games remaining at old Yankee Stadium. As the teams worked out Sunday, the screen showed 81.

This will surely be a record breaking year for tourist visiting this great stadium for the last time.
